Here is the 50 truck that my buddy Mark Mielke and I built for a friend of ours. The story is that he had this original 1950 chevy truck that he had been driving and wanted to make it into a daily driver. So we took on the task for him and ended up with a very beautiful - no details spared daily driver.
We used a 1994 Chevy S-10 Regular Cab Long Box 4.3L 2wd truck frame and rear end. I incorporated in a 305 small block and a 350 tranny hooked up to the original S-10 rear end.
I will try to text up these pictures in the future, but hope you enjoy looking at them and if you want, drop me a line. Later

This is when we brought in the original '50 Truck. The motor had already been removed and now it all has to come apart. The frame, suspension and drive line are all destined for the scrap pile. | The box was the first to come off. There wasnt muck left of it and once we took most of the bolts off, it just kinda fell apart.
| Everything was on the truck - even the original bias ply tires. I think that we can improve this ride! | The donor truck that we would be using the frame and axles from was a 94 S-10 Regular Cab Long Box 2wd truck with the 4.3 V-6 cause it had the stiffer front springs in it. | |||
| Taking apart the S-10. Part by part.... | It was getting time to lift the cab off the frame. Hmmm, where did we put the forklift? I guess we will have to come up with some other system. | |||
| Ok, well I DO NOT recommend this - but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! | The cab is off and the frame is free. Ok, lets get this thing down and onto a trailer. | |||
| The donor frame. Pretty much everything will be used on this and we will start mocking up how the truck is going to go. | The cab is dropped on and everything is set on 2x4's to get it level and into position. We will basically mock up the whole truck this way. An empty block is set in to get an idea of engine placement. | |||
| The motor is out of a 85 Chevy Silverado 4x4 with low miles. We will basically go thru and do a minor rebuild. | The box is on, and it is starting to look like a truck. Weird. | |||
| The motor is being worked on while we get everything set into place. | My boys help me with the heavy lifting. Thanks Christopher and Collin! | |||
| Another fully dressed motor is dropped in to see how it is going to fit for headers, steering, etc. lots of room behind the motor. | Hmmm, not a lot of room in front of the motor. Well, we will start on the custom motor mounts next. | |||
| We have purchased the correct wheels and tires and that helped us align everything into the right spot. The front clip is installed and its all falling into place. |
|
It all gets mocked up - even the running boards go back on it.
| Another mock up shot. | And another... | |||
| The gap between the box and cab is actually 1/2 wider that normal because the S-10 wheel base was 3/4" longer than the '50 truck. We also lost 1/8" in each wheel well and figured that no one would see it in there. | A shot of the donor motor - SLUDGE!! | |||

| This is the rear cab mount of the S-10 frame sitting directly under the '50 cab mount. Couldnt have planned that any better. | ||||
| The box floor had to be raised 3" so that the box could drop down to the correct level with the cab. Remember that this has to look fairly stock on the outside. | ||||
| The original S-10 fuel tank is able to be used and fits perfectly. | We did not plan this, but hey, what a bonus. | |||
